Oscillococcinum... A Homeopathic Flu Medication

Okay, so now I'm so excited. I just saw a commercial for "Oscillo," a product that I've used and recommended for years. I'm finally vindicated. Prior to the new TV ad, I've only heard it on the radio, and even then it was only recently that the radio ads appeared. I actually began using the product about 20 years ago, and believe me it really, really works for me.

Well, to begin with Oscillococcinum is a homeopathic alternative medicine that is marketed to relieve flu like symptoms. I guess at this point I should explain homeopathy. Homeopathy is a form of alternative medicine in which practitioners use highly diluted preparations. All that said, simply put it is a form of alternative medicine. Back to Oscillo, It is one of the most popular homeopathic preparations, particularly in France. Oscillococcinum is manufactured by a French company, Boiron, its the sole manufacturer. Surprisingly it has been in production in France for over 65 years. I don't know when it came to the U.S.A, but I found it in my local drugstore about 20 years ago. However, because of the widely held belief that nothing can be done to alleviate the flu, aside from letting it run it's course, most are reluctant to try it. I will try anything natural, and I did with Oscillo, and that's how I came to recommend it highly. I take it is at the first sign of the flu, the chills, headache, just general sick feeling. Anyone who's ever had the flu will know the feeling.

By the way, I carry Oscillo with me at all times. At any rate, the minute you experience the symptoms, simply pull out the Oscillo, and pop it under the tongue, (follow the printed directions). Even if you don't have it handy at the first symptoms, not to worry, go get it and take it right away. I find taking it at that time will lessen the severity and length of time that you will have to suffer with the flu. Oh, by the way Oscillo is a small vile of sweet tasting pellets you pop under your tongue, and let dissolve. The only thing you taste is sugar, and after tasting it you'll probably wonder if it works. Well, for me, and those to whom I recommended it to, it does.

So if you've never tried Oscillococcinum, give it a try.  As with any new medicine, or treatment, always check with your physician before taking.
