WHATEVER HAPPENED TO.......SINBAD

Have you ever wondered
Have you ever wondered whatever happened to some of your favorite or not so favorite entertainers, or maybe the famous, or infamous people that were formerly in the limelight but, are not anymore. Well so do I, so I'll attempt to find out and I'll bring back what I find and share with Hubpages.
My first attempt is Sinbad, the comedian. Sinbad just happened to be one of the funniest comedians of modern times. Of course it's my opinion, but just take a look at the video, and see if you don't concur. Think about it, he did it all without a single expletive, (obscene word), or racy innuendo. As a matter of fact Sinbad is commonly known as the clean comedian, and that is my kind of comedian, ergo Sinbad is my kind of comedian.
Sinbad facts
Sinbad, born David Adkins to a Baptist minister, Donald Adkins and his wife Martha. He has five siblings, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. The 6'5 comedian attended the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado, USA, between the years of 1974 and 1978 where he lettered two seasons for the basketball team.
He married Meredith Fuller in 1985, the marriage ended in divorce in 1992. The union produced two children. Sinbad served in the US Air Force as a boom operator aboard the KC-135 Stratotanker, circa 1981.
Sinbad got his start as a comedian, as a finalist on Star Search, a predecessor to American Idol. Star Search hosted by Ed McMahon, aired between 1983 and 1995. Some notables that appeared on Star Search, as contestants, are, Drew Carey, (The Price is Right), Britney Spears, Rosie O'Donnell, Christina Aguilera, Alanis Morisette, Dennis Miller, and more. I digress. Anyway Sinbad won his round as a stand-up comedian against comedian Dennis Miller, and lasted seven rounds.
Sinbad went on to appear on television and in the movies, host and emcee serveral award and variety shows. Some Sinbad movies are, "Houseguest," where he appeared with the late Phil Hartman, (funny, funny), also, "First Kid." Sinbad has been largely out of the limelight for sometime now. Prompting rumors of his death. Even Wikipedia got in on the rumor.
What is Sinbad doing now
After a career high in the '90's, Sinbad took a lower profile. However, he has been busy touring comedy clubs and lending his voice to various projects. He said in an interview, that he is putting some new TV shows and movies together. His 23 year old daughter is a singer and has an album coming out, and she also acts. His son is a recording engineer and filmmaker, and Sinbad says he is aiding them to, as he puts it, "take it to the next level and showing them how to own their own product."
On Sept. 9, 2009 Sinbad ended his almost 15 year hiatus from doing comedy taping, to tape a special for Comedy Central, which will air early 2010. Comedy Central names Sinbad as one of it's top 100 stand-up comedians of all times.
So that's what Sinbad has been doing and is doing now. Let's be on the look-out for his future ventures. I personally can't wait to see what he does next.
Update
As of March, 2010 Sinbad will be on the new Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump, on the NBC Network, USA. I anxiously await the show. I will continue to make updates to the hub. Update to the update. Sinbad now has a reality show on one of the cable stations. I guess I should have found that out before I did the update.

Thanks fastfreta for updating about Sinbad. I often wondered what happened to him. Great Work !!!!
You're right he sort of disappeared from it all. I almost forgot about him but did like his comedy. Nice, clean cut gentleman type. Thanks for looking him up and sharing his latest Sinbad adventures.
Trying to remember the last time I saw Sinbad...I always enjoyed him. Good hub!
Sinbad is so funny. I picked up a library video with an old stand up routine - funnee stuff!
Your hub is chock full of sooo much good information. My earliest desire was to do stand up comedy when I became an old lady (I still have some time) because I adored Moms Mabley.
Well, speaking of Sinbad, he was on PBS the other night - hosting the Mark Twain tribute to Bill Cosby. Lots of good humor.
We need more humor!
Thanks fastfreta!
cool to know that some people know when to stay out of teh limelight, but stay with their roots.
This was such a great idea fastfreta. I wondered what happened to Sinbad as well. He was one of those few comedians that you could listen to with your whole family, and who kept you in stitches even without all the vulgar language. Thanks for updating us. This was a fun read.
I recognise his face but haven't seen him on TV for a while either. It's nice to read more facts about him though. Thanks. Also, for a while now (honestly) I've been wondering where Angela Bassett is. Haven't seen her in a film for a very long time.
Thanks for updating us on what Sinbad has in the Pipeline.
Regards, E.
Fastfreta I can see that again we have the same taste, but this time it is about a comedian we both like. I saw Sinbad on television's 'Praise the Lord', the Trinity Broadcasting Network program. He was actually commenting on the very same thing, his reasons for leaving the limelight for a while. The last time I saw him before that was on the 'It's A Different World' Cosby Series. We really do miss him.
Congratulations on another hub well written and very informative.
fastfreta, thanks for the walk down memory lane. I remember watching Sunbad doing his thing on tv. You are right, his act was family oriented; no profanity. Its great that he's coming back. I'll keep my eyes peeled.
Great job!
Very good. Enjoyed video. I'm glad to hear that he is on the come back in a big way.
Nice and well written hub fastfreta, thank you for sharing your hub on Sinbad. blessings to you. creativeone59
As usual an original...I loved Sinbad I watched him on "A Different World". I always wondered what happened to him. I liked his comedy and I also watched him on "Star Search". Great story!
i was a fan. :-D
Loved your Hub, very well done, but I'm not a big fan of his. Good to see he still in the biz.
I am quite pleased to come across your Hub about Sinbad. He is from my hometown: Benton Harbor, Michigan. His father is well known in the Community as a man of God, and was so even before his son got famous. Thanks for the update. He is a great—and clean—comic.
How come Sinbad is not telling anymore jokes on TV
I was wondering what Sinbad was up to these days. Thanks for the info.
very nice. He's one of my favorites as well. He had a small part in "Coneheads" but he was great as always.
He is very talented actor. I like his movie. Thanks for write information about Sinbad.
Yeah, what the heck happened to that guy?! He was so funny!
Didn't read all the comments, but Sinbad has a new Comedy Central special coming up called "Where U Been?"
I'm a big fan.......
Thanks for the update; I was wondering what happened to him.
sinbad is aweeeessssooommmee
"Where You Been?" was so funny I cried! Not one curse or filthy thing in the hour and a half special. You can be funny vulgar! Go Sinbad
I was wondering what happened to him. Loved him on A Different World & First Kid, It's funny that I never got around to watching Houseguest. always wanted to see it.
I loved this . I loved watching him . I wish I could see him live . I found it very interesting that he had been in the Air Force . Keep up the good work .
I saw Sinbad shopping at circuit over 10 years ago. He looked ok.
Thank you so much for this hub! Other than the Celebrity Apprentice I totally had been wondering what Sinbad has been up to.
fastfreda I always loved Sinbad's routines! I rarely watch comedy nowadays, but I'd watch Sinbad in a heartbeat! Thanks for the update. I wish him well and sure would love to see some of that humour again. Great Hub!
I think he is a genius. I think it was Bill Cosby that pointed out that it takes a high level of intelligence to be so entertaining yet free of filth, He being another great comedic mind. I would watch Sinbad anytime, anywhere. Great family entertainment.
We love you Sinbad
I think that Sinbad remarried his first wife...I think that is great if so. It was good seeing him on Celebrity Apptentice and his comedy special but we want more. What else does he have coming up. Movie? Tour? WE WANT SINBAD WE WANT SINBAD. GOOD CLEAN FUNNY HUMOR
I love me some Sinbad, I saw his comedy show last year it was so funny. My husband and I really enjoyed the show, now he is doing a show called Way Black When it started this month. They have some of the hot acter and actress for the 70's like Jim Brown Denise William and much more good show, I think it just might be on for Black History Month. It is really good it come on every night and movies like Shaft, Soul Brothers ect. come on after the show. Check out the show. I really did miss him and glad to see him come back.. :^)
Sinbad I've missed you ever so much. It's so lonely in detroit. If you're ever in Detroit again please look me up. You can find me on myspace.
I recently saw his new reality show. I really enjoyed it. He is back with his wife-he too lost his home and moved back in with the ex-wife and the two grown kids are back in the house too. I can't remember what station but it is very interesting to see how people live and what they go through.
