On The Road With Fastfreta
The Beginning
So I've begun my great adventure. I'm a little slow about getting started with the account of my trip. I left Union Station, L. A. at 6:15p on Friday July 29. So far so good, except one little glitch. I found sleeping on the train next to impossible, or rather this train. This particular train is call the Superliner. I hope the next few trains will be a little easier. That however is my only complaint, so far. I was bade ado by three of my children and one grandchild. Being that this is my first train trip, I find it very exciting. A four hour trip took ten hours, and to me that was the beauty of it, I enjoyed the smooth long ride on the way here.
I also met three very nice people, who were my table mates at the dining table. Let me explain the dining arrangements on the train. If you have a party of less than four, you're required to share a table with whomever they assign to you. Anyway, my table mates were, a very nice man named Gary. Gary was on his way to Barber Shop singing convention, in Missouri. Then there was Debi, she was on her way to La Mesa, AZ, for a short visit. I will attempt to download, upload, or whatever you do, a video that I made of these two. Anyway, I also met Laurel from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Laurel was returning to Canada from visiting her son in California. Actually that was the highlight of that leg of the trip. I've since discovered that I'm unable to, well anyway, at least with my little knowledge, download my videos from the tablet that I'm using. That's only temporary, when I get the information I'll download them, so please stay in touch.
Phoenix
I can't believe the heat here in Phoenix. 109 to 113 the entire duration of my stay. Being an outdoors person I'm finding it hard to stay in an air conditioned dwelling, but in I stay, except for one day, I just had to take my traditional walk around the block, big mistake. Now, I'm the one that says to my friends that I can take all the dry heat you can throw my way, well I'm stuffed now from eating my words. The heat is next to unbearable. Enough of that now. I've been to Phoenix before, but I declare I've never experienced it this way. Anyway the city, what I say of it was very beautiful.
Because of the heat I didn't do very much. Of course I visited with my son, Sean, and his family, Kassi, and Brittany, who provided a very relaxing time. Also I spent time with my dear friend Susan. Susan and I have been friends for over 35 years, and we did a lot of catching up. It might sound boring, but this was exactly what I needed to do, after my first train ride.
Take a look at a few pictures I took on my first leg. I took videos with my Tablet, but I don't yet know how to upload them. Come back later and see if I've had success.
