My Kind Of Music II...Stevie Wonder

More of My Kind Of Music
I like the first installment so well that I decided to do it again. Please enjoy!
Otis Redding
Otis Redding
Otis Redding was born Otis Ray Redding Jr, in 1941, in Dawson Georgia. He was often called the "King of Soul," because of his renowned ability to convey strong emotions through his voice. I actually got to see him in person, and he was very charismatic to say the least. Anyway, Otis Redding died tragically at the very young age of 26, in 1967, in Madison Wisconsin, his death was a result of an airplane crash, (sad day). I digress, His career, albeit short was very successful. Redding's music genres are said to be; soul, deep soul, Southern soul, and soul blues. To read more about Otis Redding see his bio in Wikipedia under Otis Redding.
Al Green
Al Green was born Albert Greene in 1946, in Forest City Arkansas, USA. Check him out on his website, algreenmusic.com/main.html. Al Green began his career with Gospel and it seems he's done a 360 right back to Gospel. Although the years that were my favorites didn't have anything to do with gospel. Especially with hits like, Let's Stay Together, You Ought To Be With Me, Full Of Fire, and many, many more. But, most of all, my all time favorite of his is the one that I used in the video. If you haven't heard some of those songs, take a listen and I think you'll appreciate them as much as I do.
Stevie Wonder
Stevie Wonder
Stevie Wonder was born Stevland Hardaway Morris in 1950, in Saginaw Michigan. Stevie Wonder as most know is a blind, African American singer. He was blinded shortly after birth. Not only is he a singer, he's also a songwriter, producer, multi instrumentalist, and activist. The word genius is bandied about quite frequently, however with this entertainer it's not just a word, it's true. He has so many awards and accolades that I can't list them here, take a look at his bio on Wikipedia under Stevie Wonder, and see for yourself. Also, take a look at his Official Website, Stevie Wonder Official Website. Oh, I'd like to mention he's had so many hits that are my favorites, it was a toss up as to what song to use on the video, hope you like this one.
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Although I really like this group, I must confess, I never knew anything about them. Honestly I thought they came over with the Beatles. Now, I find out they are from right here in California. The group consists of, John and Tom Fogerty, Doug Clifford, and Stu Cook. I really loved their music. Of all of the rock groups of the era, they were my favorite. For more info check them out here, Creedence Clearwater Revival
The Supremes
The Supremes are also known as Diana Ross and The Supremes. They began their career as the Primettes in Detroit in 1959. The Supremes are said to be America's most successful vocal group to date with 12 number one singles on Billboards Hot 100. At their peak in the 1960's, The Supremes rivaled the Beatles in worldwide popularity. Follow this link, The Supremes in Wikipedia, to get more in depth information, which is very interesting. The movie and stage play, Dreamgirls is loosely based on their lives and career as the Supremes.
Mel Carter
Mel Carter
Mel Carter was born in 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Even though I used the song, Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, I strongly advise you to go over to YouTube and listen to two of his other hits. Actually it was hard to choose between the three. Oh, the songs are," When A Boy Falls In Love, and, All Of A Sudden My Heart Sings." Between the three, I could listen 24/7 with nothing in between. Again, another of my most favorite singers of all times. Check out his bio on Wikipedia under Mel Carter.
More To Come
Hey I like this, I'm going to do more. Stay tuned.
- The Best Budweiser Super Bowl Commercials
In no way am I advertising for or promoting Budweiser by writing an article about their commercials. I don't even drink the stuff. But, one of my favorite things about watching the Super Bowl football game is... - Jenny Craig vs Weight Watchers - see Valerie Bertinelli swimsuit commercial, Jennifer Hudson before

I liked every one you picked. They are just great. Thank you for the trip down the memory lane and reading about some real artists.
You really did it this time. I so enjoyed this trip back in time. Why not do several tunes by one artist such as (Mel Carter). Just a thought. Thanks again for this wonderful treat.
Hi Fastfreta, It's been a little while since we've been in the neighborhood. This hub is so refreshing and it takes me back to when music was music:-)
What amazing talents you have selected. Beautiful job! Thanks for the share
I see you have an eye for talens! I love Al Green, lets stay together. I love CCR as well. Stevie Wonder was such a talent. To overcome all the obstacles he had to, that is truly something. I know you like reading but you are a great writer and you have good hubs. I am Ashlie, still new here. I wish you happiness in all you do. Best wishes.
The absolute finest of picks. I am a huge fan of everyone of your selections. This was real music when love of persons and life was the theme. Voted up, marked awesome, useful and beautiful.
Turn on some Otis.
Crank up some Al Green.
Let's make a love scene,
Spark some thunder,
Make me Stevie Wonder,
Of yesterday, yesterme, yesteryou,
Yesterday, but somehow, brand new.
All great, but sometimes i get stuck on one artist. I might be in the mood just for Stevie or just for Al ... Those voices ... Also, don't forget Donny Hathaway and my new favorite, his daughter -- Lala Hathaway. Her version of Luther Vandross' "Forever, For Always, For love" is sooooooo soothing.

All fine choices Freta, I never got to see Otis live but I saw Stevie twice and got to meet him many years ago. Mel is from my hometown and I think was on King Records. I know there's only so much you can do in 1 hub but I'd have replaced CCR with James Brown. I like CCR but James was the "Godfather". Listen to me acting like this is my hub :D Good choices, I like 'em all. Peace!! Tom
