Don't Miss Hub Camp

I tried to think of an appropriate title for this hub. I just decided to say what I mean, and that's precisely what I mean, you should not miss Hub Camp. First I'd like to explain, if you're not a hubber, or a member of HubPages, you must JOIN HUBPAGES TODAY. Then once you've done that, familiarize yourself with the site. Next write, write, read, read, etc. After all is said, and done, when you see that the Hub Camp is coming anywhere near you, you must attend. As I give you my experience you'll understand why I advocate that you attend..

First of all I was late, if you've read my hub, Why Am I Always Late, you know why. Because of my late arrival, I didn't get to meet all of my fellow attendees personally. As I arrived the workshop was already in session, so I jumped right in with my questions, and I was not disappointed. I'd like to tell you what I learned, but that would defeat the purpose of you attending when Hub Camp comes to your town. Just a teaser, I learned how to write a hub that would be more likely read in it's entirety, I also learned how to use Twitter better, to promote my hubs. SoHub Camp helps us better navigate the site.

I'd like to add, I met some pretty nice fellow hubbers. It was good to put a real face to some of the names that we've read throughout our HubPages experience.

Before I go any further I'd like give a little insight as to why I was so excited. In this day of the pretentious, self centered, self important wannabes. I met the exact opposite, the most humble, mild mannered, unpretentious, and whatever adjective you can imagine, young people. Just think, these people actually co-created this site, named the 50th largest Internet site in the world. If it sound like I'm gushing, well I am. I did not meet the creators of Yahoo, Google, or Facebook, but I met the creators of HubPages and to me that's an accomplishment that I only dream of. To be sure, these young people don't think of themselves like that, so let me bring it down a notch.

Let me tell you who I met. There was Paul Edmondson, a perfect example of a gentlemen. I would love to meet his parents, because they raised one fine young man. His knowledge was in the vernacular of today, "off the chain," but of course you'd expect nothing less, just looking at the site itself. And he held nothing back, he shared with us as much as we asked of him. Of course so much of it went over my head. No reflection on Paul, I did learn more than I would have by reading written instructions, because I don't understand written instructions as well as spoken ones.

Then there was Robin, Paul's wife. The respect she showed for her husband hearkened back to the days of old. She seemed to know as much as he did, but she deferred to him as he spoke. Now I hope I'm not setting women's lib back by making this statement, but I am from the old school, (I'm just saying). When I asked her how they came up with the idea, she said of her husband, among other things, "he's brilliant." Now to those of you from the old school, doesn't that just warm your heart. Okay gushing again, down girl. Robin, in her own right is in my opinion, brilliant.

Last but not least there was Jason Menayan, another nice young man. Jason was as engaging as Paul and Robin, however to be fair my attention was focused more on Robin and Paul. Sorry Jason!

I hope after reading this hub, they're not too embarrassed, but those are "my" feelings, and if you've read any of my hubs, you know that's what I do best, write what I feel.

Okay, all that said, so what is HubCamp? Simply put, it's a workshop that offers an education on all things "HubPages." So if you're anything like me, firsthand explanation is better than any written instructions you can get. Even if you know "all things HubPages," just being able to ask those perplexing questions that you might have had since you joined HubPages is very satisfying. For instance I now understand why our scores fluctuate. Paul said they built that into the program and it cannot be changed, of course he says it's something that they now regret. So you see what you can get from attending.

I'd like to add if these young people are examples of the caliber of the rest of the staff of HubPages, I would love to one day meet them all.

So, I say again, when HubCamp comes anywhere near you, you must not miss it.
